Intermediate Pressure Surpression - Dry Chamber First Stages In a traditional first stage, the increase in intermediate pressure (MP) is equal to the increase in ambient pressure (blue line). When using first stages with an overpressure effect on the intermediate pressure, there is an increase in MP (red line) greater than that of the ambient pressure. This increase compensates for the greater respiratory effort required by the increase in density of the air breathed in depth. Maximum limit CE EN 250 standards: 3.00 J/It.

Apeks regulators are tested on an ANSTI machine to simulate breathing while underwater. The equipment measures inhalation and exhalation efforts separately as depth, supply pressure and water temperature vary. The test results are processed to evaluate the Total Work of the Respiratory Cycle (Work of Breathing).

1st stage with balanced diaphragm guarantees high performance and high reliability at any depth and tank pressure. Small internal components reduce friction and are protected from the external environment.

Air is one of the best thermal insulators. The Dry Chamber system, adopted on Apeks regulators approved for use in cold water, is based on this factor and ensures the best possible thermal protection. The mechanism of the dispenser is totally isolated from the external environment and maintains its efficiency unchanged over time.

In the balanced second stages, the air arriving from the first stage at MP pressure counteracts the opening of the valve. The delivery effort is significantly reduced, resulting in a second stage that is much more reactive to the inspiratory act, soft and sensitive, especially in depth.

Sensitivity can be adjusted during the dive using the external handwheel. When swimming on the surface, the handwheel can be screwed to reduce sensitivity, while at depth the handwheel can be completely unscrewed to compensate for the increase in density of the inhaled air. The greater the sensitivity, the lower the initial breathing effort.

The external Venturi Effect adjustment control optimizes air injection. This results in ease of breathing and prevention of spontaneous breathing phenomena.
